La Parranda Boricua was created by Liana Lorenzo and Maria Sánchez, owners of Lasting Memories Events, with a vision to bring the warmth, energy and traditions of a Puerto Rican Christmas to Chicago. What began as an idea inspired by the traditions we grew up loving became an immersive celebration of everything that makes the holidays in Puerto Rico so special from parrandas, plena and bomba to food, music, dancing, dominoes, local artisans and, most importantly, comunidad.

In Puerto Rico, a parranda is more than a party. It’s a tradition. Friends and family gather with instruments in hand, show up unexpectedly at someone’s home singing aguinaldos, and keep the celebration going from house to house. It’s about music, togetherness, laughter and making memories with the people around you.

That feeling is the heart of La Parranda Boricua.

Through Lasting Memories Events, we set out to recreate that spirit right here in Chicago… not simply by decorating a space, but by creating an experience where people could walk through the doors and feel a little closer to the island.

Since its debut, La Parranda Boricua has grown beyond a holiday pop-up into a celebration of Puerto Rican culture year-round, bringing our community together through immersive experiences, live music, cultural programming, collaborations, local businesses and unforgettable events throughout Chicago.

Along the way, what started as an idea has become something much bigger than us. Seeing families create traditions, strangers become primos, local artists and businesses have a space to shine, and our culture celebrated so proudly is exactly why we continue to do what we do.
